Update 17 Julio 2007

Hey yall! It has been a good long while since I´ve been able to update this blog, and I appologize for it. I hope all has been well back home, thanks for continuing to check up here on how our summer has been. Here are a few updates.

-3 weeks ago a group from San Marcos came down to stay with us for about 2 weeks. It was really neat to meet more friends from there. They left last week, but during that time the two guys had the opportunity to preach one Sunday and Wednesday.

-Also during that time Darren and a small group from Bryan TX came down to visit for a couple days. It was good to see them as well.

-About 3 weeks ago Eloy had the opportunity to preach Sunday morning. The message he felt led to preach was over the heart, with the verse ¨out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.¨ (Matt 12:34) He did an excellent job. The week after his sermon was when one of the guys from San Marcos preached. And his message? He preached over the heart as well, out of the very next verses which say: ¨Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.¨ He had been preparing that message for 2 weeks before he came, and it was the perfect follow-up after Eloy´s. I believe those messages have had a good effect on the body here.

-So what have we been keeping ourselves busy with? Well if it is our week to preach, we would most likely be studying for the sermon the week before. Not only do we have to know it in English, but then we have to translate it and make sure we have the right words to use in Spanish, so it takes awhile! If we are not up to preach the following sunday, we have been busy preparing for the youth bible study that we lead Saturdays. I believe it has been going well, there are at least 3-4 youth (out of around 6-8) that seem to really be eating it up.

-Also our weekly schedule includes around 5-6 Bible studies that we attend with the Pastor at different homes. We are seeing growth among the believers here; even if it be just small steps, the are in the right direction!

Alright, prayer requests:
-Martin: he is one of the neighborhood kids, around 16 yrs old. He just started coming to church with us this summer, and he has been coming almost every sundays and wednesdays since. The Lord is working in his life and in the life of his family. Please pray for him, that he may be saved if he is not trusting in the Lord already.

-The church here is very young spiritually, and there are still many lessons for them to learn. We are praying that God will raise up persons to fill all the different functions of the body of Christ (Teachers, pastors, administration, helps, etc etc). Pray that the Lord will help them to find their role in the body of Christ, and then to boldly come and fill it, that the body may grow together in love.

-Jose Angel: He is one of Armando´s many nefews, of 19 yrs old. The church has been praying for him, and just recently he starting coming to the services. 2 weeks ago he came forward wanting to make some type of decision, but we are still not 100% clear on where his heart is. It is our hope that he is trusting in the Lord now! Keep praying for him; whether he is on the verge of making a decision or is a baby christian, the devil will be attacking him much trying to discourage him.

-It looks like I will be preaching one last time here in about 2 weeks. There are a few messages on my heart, but we are still not sure what would be most appropriate. Please pray for me, that I may know what to speak on, and then that the Holy Spirit would guide my studies and my delivery, and give us all ears to hear what the Word says.

Thank you for following us this summer with your thoughts and prayers, and again I appologize for not updating this as often as I´d like. We will be returning home in about 2 weeks from now. May God bless you all, keep us in your prayers. Peace!

Chris

You've got a lot of people at home praying for you. See you soon. (But please don't buzz your head before you come home!) Love you,
Mom
